General Policies

SCIS-HIS may deny enrollment to students, whose past performance suggests that they may not be in a position to experience success at our schools.  The school requires that the student be able to independently participate in all subjects and may dismiss a student for whom SCIS-HIS determines it cannot provide an appropriate program.  For a student to be eligible, the school administration must agree that the student has a reasonable expectation of academic and personal success within the SCIS-HIS program.

SCIS-HIS will consider enrolling students who display a desire and motivation to succeed and whose learning differences are within a framework that the school can address.

VISA Requirements

SCIS-HIS is open for admission to expatriate students who hold a valid foreign passport and resident visa (or are otherwise approved to attend by the Government of the People's Republic of China). Parents have 30 days to obtain a residance permit and submit it to the admissions office.

Academic Testing

Due to the fact that SCIS-HIS teaching strategies include flexible grouping and individualization to meet the needs of students, academic testing is generally not required.  The admissions committee examines previous school records to identify the areas of academic, physical, social and emotional strengths of the student before acceptance is granted.

Occasionally, external diagnostic testing and support may be recommended or required at parent expense, to ensure that the teachers have adequate information with which to prepare effective teaching strategies for these children.  Students with school records that reflect a need for excessive teacher support or attention (including discipline) may be denied admission to SCIS-HIS.
