UNITED STATES Alyssa Allgaier Brigham Young University Ni Hao! I'm Alyssa Allgaier and I am the middle school and high school drama teacher. I was born in California, studied in Utah, and have over 10 years experience teaching in both art and drama in Washington DC, London, and Ireland. I believe everyone needs to learn to act. We find ourselves in social situations everyday that require us to act in a certain way. I love teaching this subject to this age group as it helps prepares them for life --- teaching them to act with better manners, clearer presentations, and more confidence. I am here with my husband, David, who works for Ernst & Young. We have two daughters, who are age 8 and 12, and attend SCIS. aallgaier@scischina.org

UNITED STATES Nathan Bailey California State University My name is Nate Bailey and I'll be teaching third grade here at SCIS. My wife, Sarah, and I are very excited to be here in Shanghai. We moved from the small mountain town of Truckee, California. My wife and I joke that we lived in a small town in order to find out that we were meant to live in the city... so here we are! Shanghai has been great so far. I look forward to exploring the local cuisine and live music scene. I also hope to explore the wilds of China and surrounding countries, as backpacking and camping are some of my favorite pastimes.

UNITED STATES Sarah Bailey California State University Chico Ni hao~ I am thrilled to be teaching dance in the upper school this year at SCIS! I hold a BA in Child Development from CSU, Chico and have education in dance from Cornish College of the Arts. I later went on to certify in Pilates and Gyrotonic, both forms of alternative movement training. I currently incorporate these techniques into my teaching and have taught dancers in the Gyrotonic method from San Francisco Ballet & LINES Ballet School. I also served as a mentor to the LINES Ballet Training Program and Summer Institute working with pre-professional dancers from ages 12-22. For the majority of my career I have taught movement and worked as a choreographer, dancer & performer in several small companies on the west coast including Unity Dance Ensemble under the direction of Tessandra Chavez (her choreography most recently featured on "So You Think You Can Dance".) I do enjoy other things such as, baking, knitting, sewing, camping, traveling, attempting guitar and Mandarin, and my favorite, taking long walks with my husband, Nate. This is our second year in Shanghai and each day I feel fortunate to be sharing my passion for movement within our community. Thank you to all my inspiring students!
